On Tuesday, the PRCA announced the 2026 ProRodeo Hall of Fame class, which included the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo under the Rodeo Committee category.
In a press release, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association said that San Angelo has become one of the highest-paying rodeos in the PRORODEO Playoff Series.
With nearly $800,000 up for grabs, it’s become a must-see event for some of the top cowboys and cowgirls. But beyond the main attraction, other similar events have also flourished in San Angelo.
The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo, originally called the “Fat Stock Show,” began as an idea in the early 1930s. The event was established to support San Angelo’s growth and development, and to lift spirits during the Great Depression. In 1934, the first San Angelo Rodeo was held with the stock show, starting a tradition.
The 2026 Pro Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on July 18 at 10 a.m. mountain time.
