SAN ANGELO, TX – Twenty-four people were indicted and arrested for dealing methamphetamine and other narcotics, and one person was booked on weapons charges, in a wide sweeping crime bust on May 28, according to local officials who held a press conference on Thursday.

The operation was part of a larger move by law enforcement that resulted in 48 arrests for drug and criminal conspiracy within the Northern District of Texas and the 119th Judicial District.

While most coverage of the San Angelo City Council meeting on May 19 was focused on the regulations for potential data center development, council also moved to amend the city’s zoning regulations to encourage more affordable housing, with a major gap in availability in sight.

Planning and Development Services Director Aaron Vannoy said the proposals were shaped by housing studies completed in 2019 and 2024 examining San Angelo’s housing supply, pricing trends and future needs.
