  • “On The Right Track,” by Linda Thorsen Bond tells railroad history
  • Two evening performances and one matinee slated
  • Tickets available on the website
During the height of passenger rail travel, almost 20 Harvey Houses were operating in Texas as Santa Fe Railway depot restaurants and hotels. Only six of these historic buildings are still standing, with the Slaton Harvey House near Lubbock operating as a museum and bed-and-breakfast.

Guests of San Angelo’s historic Railway Museum will have three final chances to experience what life was like along early 20th-century railroads, as they are transported back in time to 1910, where they will meet railroad founder Arthur Stilwell, and learn the fascinating history of the Harvey Houses along the Santa Fe.

The fun original play titled “On the Right Track” by local author and historian Linda Thorsen Bond entertains guests as they climb “Big Rock Candy Mountain,” while Haywire Mac takes them back in time with “Hallelujah I’m Bum,” and the Harvey Girls serve a delicious dessert and bring the past to life.

Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7 p.m. and the Sunday matinee begins at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are priced at $20 and are available on the Railroad Museum’s Website.

Hello San Angelo. My wife – Linda Bond – wrote this interactive play. I would encourage everyone to come to tonight’s (5/16/26) 7 pm performance. One sweet aspect (to me) is volunteer Liz’s purchase of china, table cloths, tables, chairs, napkins, glasses, etc. All at her own expense., to create the true Harvey House hospitality experience. If you know a sweet senior who enjoys a “white table cloth” experience, this is an easy, friendly way to treat them. There’s even dessert! (Made by Liz, of course.) All the people in the photo are volunteers, even our son Dan, back row, right, who drove from northern Colorado last week to help his mom for Mother’s Day week. Liz is on the front row, second from left. Next to her is Maya. Liz is a Vietnam era Navy veteran. Maya is a 4-year active duty Marine. We live in a special community. Come out and spend an hour or two with special people you should know. The story is a great one, too. For tickets, go to the Railway Museum of San Angelo Website.
