Longtime City of San Angelo Parks and Recreation Director Carl White has announced he will retire later this year after more than 25 years with department.

White first came to San Angelo from Sugar Land in 2000, where he served as Park Superintendent. Five years later he took on the role of director.

White said “It has been a privilege to serve as Parks and Recreation Director. I remain fully committed to the department, our staff, and the community during the remainder of my tenure. I will continue to carry out my responsibilities with the same level of professionalism and dedication.”

He emphasized his commitment to ensuring the continuity of leadership and operations, and says he will assist in the transition process to recruit and onboard his successor.

Jeff Chandler Law

He added, “Serving the City of San Angelo has been both professional and personally rewarding. I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside dedicated colleagues, partners, and community members in advancing our parks and recreation system.”
