The threat of closure for the San Angelo VFW Post 1815 has prompted a plea to the community for financial help. Post officials say that to maintain their commercial insurance and stay open to the public, they need to have their parking lot repaired.
Without their commercial insurance, they cannot open to the public and serve the community, which would hinder their operations.
Quotes for the repairs have been wide ranging, from $19,000 for basic repairs to $154,000 for a full replacement, according to officials. The VFW Post has used the building on Browning Street since 1949.
