Some registered voters in Tom Green County felt confused on Tuesday when they checked their registration online and find that they are not listed as registered.
Tuesday was National Voter Registration Day and the Texas Secretary of State’s Office confirmed this morning that some Texans are experiencing problems using the “My Voter Portal” tool to look up their registration status. The SOS Office said it’s actively working on a fix and recommends that anyone having trouble either come back to the site later or check directly with their county’s voter registration office.
Texas counties have reported backlogs after the upgraded registration system, called TEAM, caused technical glitches, leaving many applications unprocessed for weeks.
County officials say the system’s issues began after the July 2025 overhaul, resulting in address overrides and lost entries. In some counties, pending registrations jumped from the usual 1,000 to tens of thousands, with Harris County seeing nearly 30,000 applications waiting then.
Tom Green County previously reported roughly 73,314 registered voters, with about 7,928 (10.8%) in ‘suspense,’ which officials said was part of the normal election cycle and urge voters to verify their status online or by phone.
