TEXAS, OUR TEXAS
San Angelo’s own International Waterlily Collection was once again hosting the city’s annual Waterlily festival Saturday morning at 2 South Park, between Beauregard and Harris. Guests could view the extensive collection of unique water lilies blooming in the large ponds at Civic League Park.

In addition to the beautiful lilies, families could enjoy bounce houses, kids’ giveaways, chalk art, and face painting by Storming Designs.sa, DJ Todd Nichols, and Kona Ice.
Many of the lilies in the collection attract waterlily enthusiasts from around the world, who visit the collection because it’s considered the premier collection of waterlilies in existence.
On April 26, 2011, the 82nd Legislature of the State of Texas formally designated Nymphaea, “Texas Dawn,” as the Official Water Lily of the State of Texas. San Angelo is home to the “Texas Dawn,” which was created by water lily expert Ken Landon. Landon passed away at 74 years old in July of 2021.
