In June, the nationwide “No Kings Day” spurred thousands of Americans to hit the pavement in protest, and West Texas Indivisible announced the next protest will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Civil League Park, 2 S. Park Street.

Demonstrations are planned for most cities in Texas, as part of the larger national effort to protest abridgements of constitutional freedoms, and the rise of authoritarian government in America.

According to organizers, President Donald Trump has been engaging in monarchical behavior, and the first nine months of his second administration have seen unprecedented expansions of executive authority.

In recent weeks, the deportations, extra-judicial killing of foreign nationals in international waters, and political prosecutions of those deemed to be his enemies, have been exacerbated a by rising tide of Americans from all walks of life demanding the release of the Epstein Files, and an end to Trump’s government shutdown.

Jeff Chandler Law

According to a news bulletin from West Texas Indivisible: “Our peaceful day of action is going to bring together local residents from all walks of life who share a simple message: We don’t do kings in America.”
