San Angelo Chamber of Commerce members heard a timely update Tuesday from the Commander of Goodfellow Air Force Base’s 17th Training Wing.
During their regular monthly lunch, Col. Matthew Norton briefed members on base operations and updates to ongoing construction projects, specifically the upgrade of the Jacobson Gate entrance.
That work will be continuing for nearly a year, according to the colonel, who noted that the construction on the base as a result of recent grant funding.
Norton also highlighted areas where the people of San Angelo can support service personnel and their families now stationed at Goodfellow, and he emphasized the importance of increasing residential housing and encouraging local businesses to hire the spouses of service members, while also making service members feel welcomed in the community.
