Goodfellow Air Force Base personnel and families have been asked to send emails to Congressman Pfluger’s office about the impact proposed mass termination of civilian employees would have on the base and its military readiness. According to CNN, this morning the Department of Defense put on pause a plan to carry out mass firings of civilian employees.

Reportedly 20% of the civilian workforce at Goodfellow has been slated for termination. There are approximately 800 civilian employees at the base. The pause was put in place to allow the Pentagon to review these proposed terminations on military readiness. We reached out to Congressman Pfluger’s office this afternoon to confirm. We were told they were aware of it but would have to have someone from the D.C. office call to provide any further information.

This is a developing story and we will update you with more information once it becomes available.

if they are not useful then they should be relieved. As a Retired Soldier who has also worked with civilians, I can say some of them were useless. After I retired I worked for the Fed Gov and it is a welfare system. Merit promotions were rare. Cronyism ruled

Is Cronyism the reason you got a job with the government? Surely not.

Of course his office knows nothing. 160 jobs lost is TERRIBLE – especially in this town where there aren’t many decent paying jobs to begin with!
