The approach of January means that the season for city and school board elections are upon us once again. The City of San Angelo and some local school districts will be holding elections on Saturday May 3, 2025. While that sounds far away it will be here before you know it. The filing period for the seats that will be up for election opens January 15, 2025. The deadline to file is February 14, 2025. There is no filing fee to place your name on the ballot for these offices.
The City of San Angelo will be accepting applications for places on the ballot for the following seats on the City Council: Mayor. and SMD 2, 4 and 6. So far the only person who has publicly announced their intent to run for Mayor is Gary Jenkins. After the first of the year we can expect to see quite a few names being talked about as the filing period approaches. Information packets and applications can be obtained from the City Clerk’s office at City Hall 72 W. College St. San Angelo, Texas 76903. Packets should be ready by no later than January 8.
San Angelo ISD has the following places on the Board of Trustees up for election this year. SMD 1,2,3,4. This will be an important year for SAISD elections as we anticipate the Board of Trustees will also be calling for a bond election to address some of the districts facilities needs. We will be covering the bond election closely and providing in depth and accurate coverage of this important vote. Information and applications for a place on the ballot for SAISD Board of Trustees can be obtained at the San Angelo ISD Administration Building 1621 University San Angelo, Texas 76904. Wall ISD has two trustee seats up for election this year and Grape Creek ISD has four.
