A theatrical presentation offering a timely look at the United States Constitution will be staged in San Angelo’s Black Box Theater this week.
Heidi Schreck, an American playwright, screenwriter, and actress from Wenatchee, Washington, wrote the play titled “What the Constitution Means to Me,” which earned widespread recognition as a finalist for the prestigious 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, in addition to garnering nominations for Best Play and Best Actress in a Play at the 2019 Tony Awards, where it was singled out for its exceptional storytelling and impressive performance.
This insightful exploration of our Constitution and its profound influence on our lives arrives at a perfect moment, as our nation celebrates 250 years of sovereignty and reflection.

The production is being staged by local theatrical artist and educator China Young, whose work currently focuses on performance, vocal work, directing, and movement according to her biography.
“What the Constitution Means to Me” is slated for performances at 7:30 p.m. June 25-27, with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the San Angelo Performing Arts Center, 82 Gillis St.
