The son of Angelo State University alum Chris Brazzell was recently selected as the No. 83 overall pick by the Carolina Panthers during the National Football League’s third-round of drafts on April 24, according to a news release from the team.
Chris Brazzell II is a graduate of Midland Christian who joined the squad at Tulane University for two years before transferring to Tennessee where he was joined by his younger brother, Colin Brazzell, a defensive back.
The Brazzell’s dad, Chris Sr., played for Blinn College before moving to ASU his junior year, and went on to be drafted by the New York Jets in1998.
Brazzell played two years with the Dallas Cowboys before spending seven years in the CFL.
According to an interview with the family published by the Carolina Panthers, his time in the NFL prepared Chris Sr. to help his sons train and hopefully make their own NFL dreams come true.
“It’s definitely his dream to see me in the NFL,” said Chris Brazzell II, “I’ve been getting NFL training since I’ve been a little boy, since I grew up playing football.
“He was in the NFL when I was born, so I mean, I grew up playing football, found a love for the game of football at a young age.”
Colin Brazzell transferred to Abilene Christian University in early 2026.
