There have been recent rumors that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) agents have been conducting mass deportation arrests in San Angelo. We have not been able to verify any such reports. We reached out to the I.C.E. media office and asked if such arrests were taking place in San Angelo. No response was received by close of business yesterday.

According to local law enforcement, nothing out of the ordinary has been taking place here. We spoke with San Angelo Chief of Police Travis Griffith and he said SAPD did hear of one alleged incident but it did not check out. SAPD has not been asked to assist federal law enforcement with mass deportations at this time. Sheriff Nick Hanna also reports that he has received no such request. Chief Griffith said that if requested by federal law enforcement his Department would cooperate and assist in making arrests.
