San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts introduces the Legendary Songwriter Series, a collaboration with Green Apple Music Series that highlights the stories behind popular songs.
Kelley Mickwee is a songwriter from Memphis, now living in Austin. She will be the guest artist for the first session of the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts’ new Legendary Songwriter Series.
On Sunday, May 31, starting at 1:30 p.m. in the SAMFA Grand Hall, the program will feature SAMFA Director Seth Hopkins interviewing Mickwee. They will discuss her childhood, her journey into music, her writing process, and the inspiration behind some of her favorite songs. Throughout the interview, Mickwee will also perform some or all of those songs.
Mickwee will be in San Angelo to open for Brandy Clark as part of the Green Apple Music Series on the evening of Saturday, May 30, at the Brooks and Bates Theater. Following this performance, Mickwee will remain in town to participate in a songwriter session on Sunday afternoon. This event marks the beginning of the collaboration between Green Apple and SAMFA.
Tickets for the songwriter session are priced at $10 for SAMFA members and Green Apple Sponsors, and $15 for the general public, and are available on Eventbrite (bit.ly/samfalss) or from the Museum Gift Shop.
Tickets for the Mickwee and Clark concert are $40 and are available on the Green Apple website at greenapplemusic.com.
