Music, fireworks, and history will all take the stage this Independence Day weekend in San Angelo, as the community once again enjoys a spectacular music and fireworks show along the river in downtown.

The Star-Spangled Banner Concert & Fireworks will take place July 3 at the River Stage, 16 E. Ave. A, as live local entertainment appears throughout the day, with the fireworks show beginning later in the evening.

The celebration doesn’t end there; on the 4th, the annual Lake Nasworthy fireworks will take place around 9 p.m. The fireworks are launched from the Goodfellow Recreation Camp and can be viewed from all around the lake and nearby areas.

Spectators can listen to the soundtrack of the fireworks show on 94.7 KIXY-FM.

The fireworks event is organized by the Lake Nasworthy Homeowners Association.

San Angelo’s history will come alive over the weekend as Fort Concho National Historical Landmark opens as usual from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 1-5 p.m. Sunday for self-guided tours.

Hourly artillery salutes will take place Saturday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Parade Ground near Barracks 1, free and open to all.

In the Fort’s Quartermaster building a western art show will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday.

A refreshing weekend of fun will take place at the city’s Municipal Pool, which will be open during the Independence Day weekend for public swimming. On Friday, July 3, the pool will be open from noon to 6 p.m. and will then reopen at 6:30 p.m. for the sold-out splash party and fireworks viewing.

Pool admission is $6 for ages 3-64, free for children 2 and younger, and $4 for ages 65 and older.  The Municipal Pool only accepts credit and debit cards for payment.
