A local physician who is the sister of U.S. Rep. August Pfluger, Dr. Genevieve Pfluger Mejia, was arrested for driving while intoxicated on June 27 according to a report by FOX West Texas that was published on Saturday but subsequently removed.
The initial report, published around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, indicated Mejia was stopped by San Angelo Police and found to be driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.15 percent or higher, which led to her arrest.
In Texas, the maximum legal BAC is 0.08 percent.

Mejia is an obstetrician-gynecologist at Shannon Medical Center.
According to the Fox West Texas report, after posting a $5,000 bond, Mejia was released from custody the same day.
Under Texas Penal Code § 49.04(d), a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.15 or higher automatically enhances a DWI charge from a Class B to a Class A misdemeanor with mandatory penalties, including up to 365 days in county jail and up to $4,000 in fines.
The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office website shows neither an intake nor a release entry for Mejia.
