The San Angelo City Council will consider authorizing a lease agreement with Miguel Vasquez, doing business as “The Co-Pilot Grill,” to operate the restaurant concessionaire space at San Angelo Regional Airport.
According to information from the city, the 669-square-foot space inside the airport terminal would rent for $300 per month, or 5 percent of gross monthly receipts, for an initial term of five years.
According to the agenda packet report, the airport has been without an eatery for 12 months, with food trucks reporting limited success in filling that gap, leading to a recommendation to waive the first six month’s rent to help re-establish food service at the airport.
The Co Pilot Grill will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner “supporting passengers in the terminal as well as tenants and transient aircraft visiting the airport,” according to the Airport Advisory Board, which approved the move during its March 5 meeting.
The lease is listed as Item “F” on the consent agenda below two other airport-related items:
Item “D,” an Airport Raw Land Lease with DK Boyd for the 23,000-square-foot Lot 4 on the south taxilane development in the amount of $4,600 per year, and Item “E,” an Airport Raw Land Lease with Wade Hoak for the 23,000-square-foot Lot 3 on the south taxilane development in the same amount.
