As members of the San Angelo City Council meet for their regular meeting on Tuesday, they will also conduct a public hearing on the proposed tax rate for the 2026 tax year and the 2026-27 fiscal budget.
The City of San Angelo has adopted a tax rate that will increase funding for maintenance and operations compared to last year’s rate. This new tax rate will be raised by 0.57 percent, resulting in an increase of approximately $3.62 in taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home.
The council will hold a public hearing and a second reading of an ordinance that establishes a Right-of-Way Infrastructure fee.
Residents will be charged a monthly fee of $15, while most commercial buildings will incur a higher fee. This charge will create a dedicated fund to support the maintenance of various items located in the right-of-way, including streets, curbs, sidewalks, ADA facilities (such as ramps and crosswalks), signs, signals, road striping, alleys, and street lighting.
Residents are invited to make public comments on items listed on the Regular Agenda during the discussion of each item. To participate, individuals must sign in with the City Clerk before the meeting starts. Speakers will be called in the order they signed in, and comments are limited to three minutes each.
The meeting and public hearing on the proposed tax rate will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. at the McNease Convention Center in the council chambers, 501 Rio Concho Drive.
