MEET THE CANDIDATES

EDITOR’S NOTE: As 2026 shapes up as a historic midterm year, The Concho Observer’s will be publishing questionnaires sent to local candidates for our “Meet the Candidate” series.

Name: Christina Ubando (R)

Running for: Republican Nomination for Tom Green County Clerk (incumbent)

Why are you running/seeking re-election?

Webb, Stokes & Sparks Personal Injury Law

I’m seeking re-election because I truly care about the work we do in the County Clerk’s office and the people we serve. This office and this work have been a major part of my professional life for more than a decade. I started in the County Clerk’s office in 2012, briefly left in 2014, and then returned, continuing to grow in responsibility and experience.

Over the years, I’ve served in several roles, including Chief Deputy beginning in 2017 and later as a Court Administrator in 2019.

I was appointed County Clerk in 2021 and honored to earn the trust of voters in 2022. That path has given me a deep understanding of how this office operates at every level and why consistency, experience, and dependable leadership matter. I want to continue serving Tom Green County with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to doing the job right every day.

What are your top priorities?

My top priorities are accuracy, efficiency, and customer service. The County Clerk’s office handles records that people rely on every day, so attention to detail and compliance with state law are critical.

I also place a strong emphasis on staff training and clear communication. A knowledgeable and supported staff means better service for the public. I’m committed to maintaining secure records, meeting deadlines, and continuing to improve how our office serves the community while remaining transparent and accountable.

What issues have constituents told you they were concerned about?

Most constituents want their interactions with county government to be straightforward and respectful. They want timely service, clear answers, and confidence that their records are handled correctly. I also hear concerns about accessibility — being able to reach someone, understand the process, and not feel lost in the system. My goal has always been to make the County Clerk’s office approachable, helpful, and consistent for everyone.

Any plans for rallies, town halls, or meetings in the near future?

The County Clerk position is an administrative role, so my focus remains on serving the public through the daily work of the office. That said, I value open communication.

I plan to continue meeting with community members, local organizations, and stakeholders as opportunities arise to answer questions and explain the role of the County Clerk. Information about any campaign-related events will be shared through appropriate channels.

Christina Ubando currently serves as Tom Green County Clerk, she will face Lauren Barron in the Republican primary.
