On March 3, the City of San Angelo will present a proclamation at the City Council meeting to recognize March as March for Meals Month.

Meals for the Elderly celebrates March for Meals this month, partnering with Meals on Wheels America to highlight senior hunger and isolation.

This year, the program honors Carol Santry as the Honorary 2026 Community Champion for over 20 years of dedicated volunteer service. Though she passed away last year, her legacy remains a vital part of the organization.

Also this year, they’re moving their annual Community Champions initiative to March to align with the national campaign and recognizing the local leaders advocating for homebound seniors in San Angelo.

The 2026 Community Champions Kickoff will be on March 10, with Champions participating in special ride-alongs on March 19 to deliver meals and provide personal connections to seniors across the Concho Valley.

Meals For The Elderly delivers more than 600 nourishing meals each weekday to homebound seniors and disabled adults, helping them remain independent in the comfort of their homes.
