The San Angelo Independent School District meets Tuesday evening February 18, 2025 at 5:45 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Second Floor Board Room at the SAISD Administration Building 1621 University Drive San Angelo, Texas. The topic that may garner the most interest will be consideration of the Bluebonnet Learning curriculum.

TEA adopted the Bluebonnet Learning as the approved K-5 elementary school curriculum last year, but not without controversy. While much of the criticism has been about the bible lessons and Christian proselytizing, that is the not the only controversy. There are also questions about the appropriateness of the curriculum and its methods in elementary education. In other words, will it achieve the educational outcomes parents and teachers desire and improve performance on state standardized tests. This item is listed on the agenda as “Consider HB 1605 and Instructional Materials.” You can read more about Bluebonnet Learning here.

Other Items On the Agenda

The Board will also receive another Facilities Update, STEM and Robotic Academics Update, take up Requests for Qualifications (RFQ’s) for fine arts instruments, playground equipment and shade structures, consider amending the District budget, and Consider District and Campus performance objectives.

You can review the agenda here.
