The National Weather Service in San Angelo says that thunderstorms are likely Friday evening, leading into several days of increased chance for overall precipitation.

The chance will increase after 5 p.m. on Friday. Severe weather risk will increase with travel into Sterling, Coke, and Runnels counties, with the highest risk in Taylor and Nolan counties toward Abilene. Max wind speeds of 70 miles per hour and golf ball sized hail are possible.

Looking Ahead

Throughout next week, lower temperatures are expected. Rain chances peak this weekend on Saturday, and next week on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Plan Ahead For Travel Memorial Day Weekend

National Weather Service

Travelers headed south and east for Memorial Day should keep a close eye on changing conditions. Chances for excessive rainfall leading to flash flooding are marginal for low lying areas in south Tom Green county, Schleicher, Concho, McCulloch and neighboring counties; slight risk for counties further south and east.

Watch For Charged Streams

Jeff Chandler Law

Dry creeks and low water crossings may be charged following rain over the last two weeks, and therefore more prone to flooding. Avoid camping in areas in low lying areas or near streams.
