State Rep. Drew Darby has sent a letter to the governor’s desk regarding the flooding from last weekend, urging action on emergency preparedness and relief during the upcoming special session.

“In light of the devastating and deadly floods that have impacted the Concho Valley, Hill Country, and Central Texas—and in response to overwhelming feedback from constituents—I am respectfully urging Governor Abbott to add ‘Emergency Disaster Preparedness & Relief’ to the July 21st Special Session agenda,” said Representative Darby.

“While we cannot change the past, we must act now to better prepare our communities for future natural disasters and ensure our neighbors have the resources to rebuild. This includes, among other things, investing in a more robust and comprehensive alert system, as well as ensuring a coordinated, long-term recovery effort that leaves no community behind.”
