Mike Burnett, exec. director of the Concho Valley Community Action Agency announced that he will be spending the night out-of-doors, to raise awareness and support for their Rock Rose Community Campus, a housing first project designed to tackle homelessness.

Mike will start his journey at City Hall, at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan 15, ending Friday morning. To simulate the struggles of living on the streets, cards will be drawn each hour with a different challenge, such as losing gear or a backpack.

The night will be documented and used to highlight what the agency describes as major gaps in care for the homeless and housing insecure.

Next week, the agency will assemble their Point In Time count. Last year, they counted over 170 individuals living on the streets of San Angelo, but say that the number is likely much higher.
