A volunteer appreciation luncheon is scheduled this week honoring the dedicated volunteers with Meals for the Elderly.
Officials announced Rev. Scott Bradford as the 2026 Volunteer of the Year, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas will be recognized as the 2026 Organization of the Year.
Both will be honored at the luncheon on Thursday, April 23, at the McNease Convention Center.
According to Meals for the Elderly, Rev. Bradford has spent nine years serving with the organization, initially through First Methodist Church, and later on a weekly delivery route, including handling the increased demands associated with the pandemic.
Officials said: “For Rev. Bradford, it’s not just about delivering meals; he knows recipients by name, understands their needs, and often prays with them, making him a trusted presence in their lives. His impact goes well beyond the deliveries.”
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas will be honored for its ongoing partnership and dedication to serving seniors in our community.
Blue Cross Blue Shield employees have a weekly delivery route, providing care and compassion to recipients, while also participating in the “Seniors Still Believe” program, bringing joy and encouragement to those they serve.
The company offers annual financial support tied to employee volunteer hours, with volunteers dedicating personal time to the community. Additionally, Blue Cross Blue and Shield of Texas sponsor the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon and provide other financial contributions.
