Experience frontier history up close and personal this month as Fort Concho hosts four programs that will engage visitors of all ages.
Afternoon Tea
Join the fort’s staff and volunteers for Afternoon Tea in Officers’ Quarters 1 on Thursday, March 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. Enjoy period parlor games, a brief discussion on formal teas, and refreshments from 150 years ago.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children aged 6 to 16, who must be accompanied by an adult. Due to limited space, please pre-register and pay by calling 325-481-2646.
Campfire Story Night
Campfire Story Night returns at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, in the courtyard behind Barracks 5-6 on Henry O. Flipper Street. There will be stories celebrating the nation’s 250th birthday and enjoy making s’mores by the campfire.
In case of poor weather, the program will be moved to the nearby Living History Stables classroom. Open to all ages and free of charge.
Meet the People of Fort Concho
Visit Fort Concho on March 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Barracks 1 for “The People of Fort Concho.” Volunteers will share stories about people who lived at the fort from 1867 to 1889.
