Larry’s informal education came from trial-and-error and listening to others. He was a strong physical man, mostly due to stacking and hauling hay and loading and unloading trucks most of his life.

He had a big heart, enjoyed fishing and tinkering outside. He was rarely found inside the house.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Thonda Mathis; and a brother, Michale Mathis.

He is survived by his children, Danna Mathis of San Angelo and Billy Mathis of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Austin and Randa, and two great grandchildren Carter and Dean.
