A longtime philanthropic organization in the Concho Valley is celebrating its 30th year of giving back to the community.
In commemorating its three decades, the San Angelo Health Foundation states it has reached a new milestone, awarding more than $71 million to several worthy community projects.
Foundation officials say they’ve partnered with 256 organizations over 30 years and supported more than 1,000 projects.
In this giving season, they recently awarded 11 unsolicited assistance grants totaling $15,000 for holiday programming needs to the Alcohol & Drug Awareness Center, Boys & Girls Club, San Angelo Early Childhood Center, Children’s Advocacy Center, Concho Valley Home for Girls, House of Faith, ICD Family Shelter, Early Redwine Childcare Center, Operation Blue Santa, Volunteer Services Council, and West Texas Boys Ranch.
In response to the area’s flooding disaster on the 4th of July, the Foundation acknowledged several organizations that made exceptional efforts to help.
It presented a total of $250,000 in grants to MHMR Concho Valley, West Texas Counseling and Guidance, Galilee CDC, Concho Valley Turning Point, La Esperanza Clinic, Hidalgo County Community Service Agency, United Way of the Concho Valley, Concho Valley Council of Governments, Concho Valley Regional Food Bank, and Concho Valley Community Action Agency.
Additionally, the Foundation presented its fourth quarter grants to the local American Heart Association, Howard College, and the San Angelo Area Foundation.
