Tom Green County Sherriff officials say Caleb Edwards, a former reserve deputy with the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, was booked into the county jail Thursday Feb. 19 following a grand jury indictment for aggravated assault linked to an incident in Irion County on September 10, 2025.
According to court documents, an altercation was reported following a roadside encounter in a construction zone.
When the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office learned about the incident, the Texas Rangers were called in to conduct an independent investigation.
The Rangers shared their findings with a grand jury, which then issued an indictment. Edwards turned himself in to authorities early Thursday morning at the Tom Green County Detention Center.
Edwards worked as a reserve deputy with the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office for less than three months, from June 23, 2025, until he was suspended on September 17, 2025.
He was released Thursday around noon after posting a $250,000 bond.
Since this case is still pending prosecution, the Sheriff’s Office said they will not be making any further comments.
