Three Democratic candidates for state and federal office are set to make a campaign appearance tonight In San Angelo, at a town hall dedicated to data center development. Claire Reynolds, nominee for U.S. House District 11; along with Riley Rodriquez, Shiloh Salazar, nominees for San Angelo’s state Senate and House districts.

Two serious data center projects are already underway in Tom Green County; one in San Angelo, and one near the unincorporated community of Dove Creek, in a rural section of county precinct 4. Along with the report of several other companies making serious inquiries into land.

The event will address the immense backlash from the public against data center construction, both in public protests and on social media campaigns. Earlier this year, recall petitions were filed for San Angelo Mayor Tom Thompson, along with city councilmen Joe Self and Harry Thomas.
The recall petition for Thomas was submitted on July 15 with what the organizers describe as “substantially” more than the required 47 votes to recall.
