The fifth part of my series on the history of San Angelo Schools contained incorrect information.
The old high school on the west side of Oakes Street was converted to Edison Junior High, for Eighth and Ninth Grade students, and Washington Junior High was established at the school on Magdalen Street as a campus for Seventh Graders. This building served as the San Angelo ISD administration building until 1981, when it was lost to arson.
The Concho Observer thanks reader Tom Johnston, who was kind enough to point out my mistake.
