Kicking off the first weekend and the opening of the San Angelo Rodeo season was the traditional Parade Saturday morning through downtown San Angelo.
An early morning cold front brought rain and winds before the parade began, and cooler temperatures and gusty winds settled in for the 10 a.m. parade start.
The parade is one of the largest held in San Angelo each year and is always a favorite among spectators.
As always, the parade featured a wide array of traditional entries, including horse-riding clubs, school groups, tractors, wagons, antique vehicles, volunteer fire trucks, floats, and more.
Thousands of onlookers lined the several blocks of the parade route and cheered the participants as they passed by. Many more were watching the parade live on KLST-TV, KSAN-TV, and on Facebook.
The annual parade is an integral part of the Stock Show and Rodeo tradition in San Angelo, and has been held since at least 1940 to kick off the celebration.
