OBITUARY

William Donnell Moreland, known to many as Don, passed away on January 5, 2026, at the age of 92.

He was born on May 17, 1933, in the Wilmeth Community, near Winters, to William Thomas “Dub” and Mildred Towler Moreland. He lived a full and adventurous life, enjoying family, friends, pets of any kind, and various hobbies.

Don was a devoted husband of 49 years to Pearl, who survives him. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and tinkering with anything, a real fix-it kind of man. His passion in life besides family was his love of planes and flying. He received his pilot license in 1951 at the age of 18, in Winters in a Piper J3 Cub, which he later owned.

He went on to obtain several pilot ratings that included instrument ratings, multi-engine ratings, and helicopter ratings. He loved flying his entire life and accumulated many hours across the United States.

Don was a respected businessman and owner of WD Moreland Contracting, doing mechanical work throughout the United States and foreign countries. His company did projects for AT&T, GTE, US Border Patrol, and many other US and international commercial entities. This is where he made many lifelong friends, with many being his faithful employees.

Don is survived by his loving wife Pearl, children Greg and Donna Moreland, Vicki Walz, Al and Sandy Moreland. His 6 grandchildren and spouses are Becky and Wacey Estes; Travis and Amber Moreland; Walker and Rebecca Walz; Parker and Hannah Walz; West and Dianna Moreland; Kelley and Jon Mullins. His 15 great grandchildren include Kolten, Keagan, Kollin, Kinsler, Willow, Maddie Jo, Aubrey, Eden, Caitlyn, Addyson, Brinley, Emma, Cora, Landry, and Annie. He is survived by his only sister, Sue Nord, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Don’s life was a testament to family, friends, and perseverance. His legacy will live on through all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, his family has requested memorials be made in his name to Meals for the Elderly or a charity of your choice.

Visitation will start at 10 a.m. followed by Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at Harper Funeral Home Monday, January 12, 2026.
