The Visual Arts Capital of Texas Mural Festival is set for Saturday, Oct. 18 in San Angelo, presented by Art in Uncommon Places.
The new live mural-painting event is bringing Texas artists together around a theme of “Cowboys and Creatives,” in “The Art Yard,” the backyard of the Art in Uncommon Places Studio, located at 701 S. Irving St.
The event will take place from 1-5 p.m. and the public is invited to watch as muralists create a new work, and hear the official proclamation by Mayor Tom Thompson.
Art in Uncommon Places President Julie Raymond said:
“This proclamation isn’t just ceremonial—it’s a strategic investment in San Angelo’s brand, our local economy, and our long-term cultural vitality. Mural Fest reliably turns into ‘heads in beds’ as artists and visitors stay, shop, and explore—and we’ll track that impact with hotel partners, QR?coded visitor passes, and zip?code capture tied to HOT goals.”
According to Raymond, attendees can also talk with volunteers and muralists, take photos, and enjoy an afternoon celebrating San Angelo’s creative spirit.
Art in Uncommon Places is a San Angelo–based nonprofit dedicated to creating public art to enrich daily life and bring people together.
