Area celebrates Independence Day Weekend
Lots of excitement this weekend as the Independence Day festivities start on the 3rd with a Pops Concert and Fireworks display which will be held at the Riverstage.
For those who might prefer to let freedom ring at a cozier venue, take a load off at The Garden Lounge where prolific solo artist Thomas Hinds will play a signature acoustic set.
Hinds released five studio projects to date, most recently 2023’s “Where Do We Go From Here.” His signature “poetic troubadour” style is sure to please.
The Lounge rounds out their weekend events with the monthly Open Mic Night.
The Chicken Farm Art Center will host King Cabbage Brass Band, which comes as a welcome change-of-pace for music lovers like myself who feel that horn sections are often overlooked.
The octet is branded as “the ONLY brass band in Oklahoma”, and features tuba, trombone, trumpets, snare and bass drum.
The band is dipping in as part of a tour carrying them across the southwest to support their new album “Just A Head Of Cabbage,” which is available on streaming and vinyl.
