People may be wondering who sent the transgender resource mailer that arrived in local homes today.
There is no “Texas Transgender Student Union” and the Transgender Education Network of Texas (TENT) whose materials were used to produce the mailer said they didn’t send it.
So, who did? It’s a mystery.

The folks at the Abe Street Post Office said they couldn’t tell me who sent it.
I told them I called the organization and explained the situation, but they said it wasn’t their barcode on the piece of mail, and there’s just no way to tell me who sent this mailer to every household in Texas.
According to TENT, they don’t even have the resources to send something like this out all over the state.
Mailing a full-color, 2-sided A4 mailer to every household in Texas would cost somewhere between $3 million and $4.4 million depending on which bulk mail cost estimator you ask, after factoring in 11,563,140 total Texas households using high-volume USPS Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) commercial saturation rates.

According to a statement on TENT’s website:
We are aware of text messages and now physical mailers that have been circulated concerning TENT that appear to have been issued by or on behalf of the organization.
These text messages and mailers were not authored, authorized, approved, or distributed by TENT and are not affiliated with our organization. The texts do not represent the official position or communications of the organization.
We will continue to monitor the situation and remain committed to our organizational values of unequivocal support for trans Texans, their families, and their loved ones. Trans Texans belong here. This is our home and we’re not going anywhere.
The address listed on the mailer is for a UPS Store in Flower Mound, Texas.
Public tracking and recipient reports from Google.com indicate a high volume of inquiries for the address that indicate a misleading political mailer is being distributed to Texas residences from this mailbox.
While the return address explicitly names the “Texas Transgender Student Union” there is no such group.
Public consensus on Reddit.com and Facebook indicate that this is likely a political marketing campaign designed to look like official transgender student resources, noting these mailers are often mass distributed to older voter databases or families who have historically received conservative or right-wing political mailings.
Because it is a private UPS mailbox, the retail store employees cannot legally disclose the real identity or name of the individual who paid for Box 123 due to privacy regulations.
