San Angelo Police Department officials announced that longtime officer, Lt. Les Bird, will retire next week, as three other officers receive their promotions during a ceremony Jan. 29.
According to a news release, Lt. Bird is retiring from the department after serving 33 years and 3 months, while Officer Mark Medley is promoted to lieutenant, and officers Adrian Castro and Jed Polnick receive their sergeant stripes.
Family and friends will gather at the ceremony, which is slated for 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at the McNease Convention Center on Rio Concho Drive.
