Area fundraising blitz opens annual 24-hours of giving to benefit local nonprofits.
At the stroke of midnight, the premiere charitable-giving event in the Concho Valley was underway.
With more than $22 million raised since the inaugural San Angelo Gives, this annual event has become an important conduit for public support of local nonprofits, and the number of worthy causes seeking funding this year has risen to approximately 256 participating organizations.
The event, hosted by the San Angelo Area Foundation, works to encourage community engagement and philanthropic giving.

According to information from the organization, SAAF was established in 2002, offering donors a way to make charitable gifts “while retaining the highest-possible amount of flexibility and effectiveness.”
The foundation serves San Angelo and surrounding counties by:
- Encouraging long-term, local philanthropy
- Assessing and responding to community needs
- Providing flexibility and efficiency for donors with varied interests and giving capacities
- Serving as a resource and a catalyst for other organizations.
According to organizers, donations of any amount can be designated for particular programs, or for an unrestricted fund; the foundation tries to with donors to develop programs of giving to meet any needs or interests.
