OBITUARY

Samford Walter Miller, Jr., age 81 of San Angelo, TX, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025.

Born on June 22, 1944, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Sam was the son of Samford Walter Miller Sr., and Dorothy Kirkpatrick Miller.

Sam spent most of his life in the Pecos and Fort Stockton area, where he devoted himself to farming–his greatest passion. He farmed cotton and vegetables for many years, serving as co-owner of Acid Delinters, Inc. of Pecos, supplying cottonseed to local farmers.

Sam loved tending to the land, and he took joy in checking the progress of his crops each day.

Beyond farming, Sam enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and reading extensively.

He and his wife, Pam, shared many wonderful memories playing in tournaments and taking golfing trips throughout the western United States.

Known for his warmth, humor, and storytelling, Sam often began conversations with his family by saying, “Let me tell you a true story!” His loved ones listened every time, and those stories will be cherished for years to come. He will be remembered with deep affection and greatly missed by all who knew him.

Sam is survived by his wife, Pam, of San Angelo, TX; his children Trey Miller and wife Amy of Lubbock, TX; James Miller and wife Trudi of Pecos, TX; and Robin and husband Toby Paul of Midland, TX. He is also survived by his stepdaughters Amy Shields of Seguin, TX, and Dana Shields of San Angelo, TX. Sam leaves behind four grandchildren—James Miller and wife Imelda of Odessa, TX; Steven Miller and wife Kristen of Gardendale, TX; William Miller of Pecos, TX; and Montgomery Miller and wife Laurel of Chicago, IL—as well as one great-grandchild, Samford Otto Miller of Gardendale, TX.

At the family’s request, no services will be held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, tribute donations may be made in Sam’s name to West Texas Boys Ranch at: https://www.wtbr.org/donate

Or by mail to: 10223 Boys Ranch Road, San Angelo, Texas, 76904-3665.
