NEIGHBORS IN NEED
Crystal Narviz of San Angelo is running for Seat 18 on the Texas Balance of State Continuum of Care (CoC) Board, a position designated for Community Action Agency representatives.
Narviz serves as the Housing and Veterans Program Director for Concho Valley Community Action Agency.
The Texas Balance of State CoC is the largest in Texas, covering more than 200 counties, including Tom Green County. Another local representative, Jason Priddy of West Texas Counseling and Guidance and Homeless Navigation Day coordinator, currently serves on the board.
“Serving our community through housing and veteran programs has shown me how vital it is to have dedicated representation at the state level. I am eager to bring our local perspective to the board to help shape policies that effectively address homelessness across Texas,” Narviz said on a social media post.
Mike Burnett, Executive Director of Concho Valley Community Action Agency, added, “For our region to have 2 seats on a statewide board is a big deal, and could bring some much-needed focus and resources to our area.”
Also running for Seat 18 is Audra Rea, Director of Family Services at Panhandle Community
Services in Potter County.
Voting in the board election opened Feb. 9 and will conclude on Feb. 22.
According to bylaws, anyone who lives or works in one of the 214 counties that make up the Balance of State CoC is considered to be a general member and may vote in the election.
