CITY OF SAN ANGELO
As officials have done in the past, San Angelo Animal Services is once again pleading with pet owners to spay and neuter their pets.
They announced on social media that the shelter is dramatically overcrowded, with owners surrendering pets daily, and that shelter workers are trying to cope.
This past week, they say they were overwhelmed with owner surrenders.
They say residents are generally not complying with the requirements regarding microchipping, vaccinations, and spaying and neutering.
The shelter is often overcrowded, and workers face the crushing decision of who stays and who doesn’t.
Shelter workers are sharing some tips on how people can be part of the solution.
- Spaying and neutering are the best ways to reduce pet overpopulation. It benefits your pet’s health and prevents future suffering.
- Adopting a pet opens a kennel for another pet in need. Residents can also consider fostering a pet from a local rescue, as fostering saves lives.
