Men of Honor Mural Dedication Scheduled

LOOPING US TOGETHER will hold a dedication of the new mural “Men of Honor” on Saturday February 1, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the Holiday Cleaners located at 222 W. 19th Street and MLK Blvd. in San Angelo.

Looping Us Together, is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the economic development and beautification of the Martin Luther King Corridor.

The mural, was painted by the artist Crystal Goodman, which honors the lives and
contributions of three remarkable individuals.

Aubrey Todd (Business Man) – Aubrey Todd was deeply involved in his church and
community in San Angelo, serving as a church leader, Principal of Blackshear Elementary
School, the Juneteenth committee, board member for various organizations, and president
of multiple local councils.

Ralph Powell (Community Leader) – Ralph Powell is president of the Juneteenth Committee,
former Northwest Lions Club president, member of the Blackshear Ex-student Association,
charter member of the Concho Valley Home for Girls, and board member of the San Angelo
Cultural Affairs Council and the Boys and Girls Club.

Jerry Andrews (Business Man) – Jerry Andrews and his wife Lola owned and operated the
first black laundry business in 1953 known as Lola’s Washateria. Jerry and Lola received a Minority Small
Business Advocate of the Year award. Jerry helped rename Randolph Street to Martin Luther
King Jr. Drive. He valued history and worked to name the community center at 1100 N. MLK
Drive the Guadalupe Center, honoring the area’s Hispanic heritage. He was a member of Northwest
Lions club and attended St Paul Baptist church.
