OBITUARY
Maria Elena Talamantes, 78, of San Angelo passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2025.
Maria Talamantes was born on September 24, 1947 in Ciudad Acuna, Mexico. She moved to San Angelo at the age of 18 in 1955.
Maria worked at the Levi-Strauss Plant as a machine operator for over 25 years, retiring in 1997 when the plant closed.
Maria married Arturo Talamantes on June 28, 1975 in San Angelo. He passed away on November 27, 2018. She enjoyed cooking, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and spending time with her family.
Maria was funny, loving, caring and selfless. She was a member St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her brother and sister.
Survivors include her three children: Arturo Talamantes and wife Noemi of Stanton, Cynthia Talamantes of San Angelo, and Sylvia Rinart of San Angelo. Two sisters; Gloria Bermundez of California; and Lucy Torrez and husband Oscar of San Angelo. Four brothers; Juan Reyes of San Angelo, Jose Reyes and wife Christina of Ft. Worth, Guillermo Reyes and wife Virginia of San Angelo, and Luis Reyes and wife Wanda of Grape Creek. 12 grandchildren; K’lyn Ornelas, Angelina Sanchez, Cerina Williams and husband Travis, Alijah Balkum, Alexandra Cardenas, Christian Sanchez, Michael Talamantes, Jackson Buchanan, Sabrina Ramirez, Karina Ramirez, Juan Betancourt, and Cecy Betancourt. And six great grandchildren, Abigal Ramirez, Jahnathan Ramirez, Khalani Williams, Cameron Sanchez, Abraham Soto and Hazel Lambert.
Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in San Angelo. Rosary begins at 10:30 a.m., and memorial service at 11 a.m., on Friday, December 12, 2025, Father Joey Faylona officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
