OBITUARY

Marcos Padilla, 71, of San Angelo, entered eternal rest on Monday, December 29, 2025, at his residence.

He was born on February 20, 1954, in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico. Married to the love of his life Mary Ann Padilla for 44 years, they built their life together for 21 years in Eldorado, and the remainder of their years together in San Angelo, where they met.

In their younger years they had and exciting journey together which included a CB radio club where he was known as Roadrunner, she went by Tornado.

Marcos had many dreams which he accomplished, which included his own mechanic shop named Padilla’s Shop. Everyone that crossed paths with him soon became a family friend and joined them for many meals that Mary Ann prepared. Together they fed and took care of anyone who came into their home, and together they raised their children showing them the definition of love.

He was a very determined person who worked hard for everything he had. Any obstacle he encountered, he overcame. Any person that needed help, he offered whatever he could. The admiration and respect that his children have for him is beyond words, and they are so thankful for all that he taught them.

Whenever his children sought advice, he listened and comforted while giving it. As much as he worked himself to the bone, he always made time for his family. Anything Mary Ann wanted, Mary Ann got. Whether it was a porch she could sit on and relax, or stored furniture she could swap out when she got tired of the old one, stands for her plants, and many more things that he would build or make happen for her.

Anything he felt like eating, she would learn how to make it for him. There were always fresh tortillas, beans, and chile de molcajete waiting for the man who gave her the world. Marcos was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was defined by hard work, humility, and generosity.

A true “jack of all trades,” he applied his talents as an automotive mechanic and carpenter, always willing to lend his hands and knowledge to help others. His strong work ethic and quiet dedication left a lasting impression on all who knew him, as well as love for music.

He was always with his giant speakers playing his favorite norteña’s and cumbias, whether it was for a get together or just another regular day. Him and his hun would be dancing away in the living room.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Padilla; his sons, Fidencio Cadena, Gino Mendez, and Marcos Padilla; his daughters, Abriana Islas and Mikayla Rodriguez; his brother, Francisco Padilla; his sisters, Maria Rodriguez and Juana Padilla; mother-in-law, Rosalinda Guerra, as well as 26 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who will continue to honor his legacy through their lives.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels / North. A chapel service will follow at 1 p.m. on the same day at Gutierrez Chapels. Marcos will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his love for family, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life.

“I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live.”

— John 11:25
