As part of the San Angelo Independent School District Citizen Facilities Review Committee, the District hired Terracon Consultants Inc. to perform detailed facilities assessments of Central and Lake View High Schools. As the Board of Trustees and the voters begin to consider what should be done about SAISD’s facilities it is important to understand the current condition of those facilities.

Facility condition ratings go from New/Good to Fair to Poor to Critical. CHS is rated as fair. It has a deferred maintenance backlog of $12 Million. This includes $3.7 Million for HVAC, $2.2 Million for plumbing and $2 Million for Electrical. There is $18 Million in building components that have reached the end of their useful life. This means the campus has a deferred maintenance backlog of $30 Million. $5.4 Million of these are considered critical or affecting life safety. Building replacements needs are projected to run $13 Million per year over the next ten years. Capital renewal requirements for the replacement of components that are expected to reach the end of their useful service life within the next 10 year totals over $116.6 million.
