MEET THE CANDIDATES

EDITOR’S NOTE: As 2026 shapes up as a historic midterm year, The Concho Observer’s will be publishing questionnaires sent to local candidates for our “Meet the Candidate” series.

Name: Lauren Barron (R)

Running for: Republican Nomination for Tom Green County Clerk

Why are you running/seeking re-election?

Webb, Stokes & Sparks Personal Injury Law

I’m running to be the next County Clerk because I enjoy serving the public, am the most accessible, dependable, and reliable candidate. I have worked for the county for 7.5 years and this is the next step in my career.

What are your top priorities?

While on the campaign trail I’ve realized a lot of people don’t actually know what all the County Clerk’s office does. I feel that our office is very important and we touch all parts of life from birth all the way to death and my main priority is to educate the community as best as I can and also educate my staff so we can help guide anyone who comes into the office.

What issues have constituents told you they were concerned about?

One issue that has come to my attention is not having access to older OPR records remotely. I would like to have these accessible for our constituents who are from out of town or are just not able to come into the office during our operating ours. Another issue I’ve run across is the record request process for birth/death certificates for individuals who no longer live in Tom Green County the complaint is that there isn’t an online process to make it faster than regular mail.

Any plans for rallies, town halls, or meetings in the near future?

I will be at the Knickerbocker forum February 17th in the evening, and The Pachyderm luncheon February 18th.

Lauren Barron is running for Tom Green County Clerk, she will face sitting County Clerk Christina Ubando in the Republican Primary.
