URGENT ALERT
According to reliable sources, judges in Texas are facing a compensation emergency after a negotiated agreement regarding retirement being linked to legislators retirement calculations.
“Friday night, we got a curveball; [The] House included language to delink legislators pay so they could increase compensation without giving themselves an increase,” our source stated.
“The Senate will not take it to the floor for a vote unless they get a retirement raise.”
The source went on to state that social-media fighting is ongoing between lawmakers, with judges in the state standing to lose a much needed compensation increase.
According to information from the Texas Tribune, judges haven’t even had a cost-of-living adjustment in 12 years.
Locally, not all judges are paid the same, and in order for county court-at-law judges to get a raise, for instance, district judges must get a raise.
This is also a problem throughout Texas, which makes the top assistant district attorney in an office less likely to run for vacancies when a district attorney leaves because the move would likely represent a pay cut.

Sorry, not sorry. When there is a large surplus and the property owners get continually left out in the cold, I’m not too concerned with judges’ pay. The money being given to Hollywood could have been used for this.
