After more than a hundred years in business in Robert Lee, the Ivey Motors Ford dealership is planning to close at the end of May.

In a social media post on Wednesday, dealership officials say new upgrade requirements from the Ford Motor Company have made it unfeasible to continue operating. To remain a Ford franchise, the dealership would need a multimillion-dollar renovation, with the risk of reevaluation after five years.

In the post the dealership said Ivey Motors earned multiple Ford President’s Awards, one of the highest honors a dealership can receive.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for trusting us with your business over the years. Serving this community has been a privilege, and we will always be grateful for the relationships and friendships we’ve built along the way,” their Facebook post said.

The dealership serves Robert Lee and nearby towns and communities, such as Bronte and Ballinger.
