OBITUARY

Donald “Don” Dean Hunt, Sr. a loving and caring husband, father, grandaddy, and great grandfather peacefully passed away of heart failure in San Angelo, TX, December 27, 2025. He was 87 years old.

Born in Overton, Texas alongside ten other Hunt siblings, Don was the 7th child born to Vernon and Pauline Hunt. Raised predominately in San Angelo, he graduated from San Angelo Lake View High School in 1957 before starting his career as an electrician.

In 1958, Don married Deloris Adair. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this past March. They had three children: Donna, Dean, Deanne, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Don worked as a construction electrician for Three Rivers Electric for many years, before starting his career at Ethicon. His knowledge and expertise in many trades made him a valued employee. He was a “go-to man” for any type of maintenance issue and taught many fellow employees the tricks of the trade throughout his career. He retired after 33 years due to heath issues.

Don was an active member and a deacon at First Christian Church, and a co-founder of the San Angelo Clay Bird Association. In many different circles, Don was known to be a quiet, kind and sometimes a stubborn soul. He was passionate about helping others. He never hesitated to help with any project, repair, chore, errand, etc. (unless it was washing dishes.) He was very patient when teaching others and loved to share what knowledge he had amassed over the years. He never complained about the work, but would request payment in the form of a hamburger and onion rings with ice cream on the side.

His retirement years were spent sitting on the back porch, drinking coffee while watching and feeding birds. He had a soft spot for all animals, treating each one like a valuable family member. He will be especially missed by his sweet cat, Jay-Jay. Also, he had many hobbies that kept him busy during his retirement including, weekly meetups with his shooting buddies to shoot clay birds, trips to Pate to buy and sell antique car parts, working in his shop on his Model-T truck that he was restoring, and coffee meetups with buddies every morning.

Don was preceded in death by his siblings, Bill Hunt, Pete Hunt, Betty Varner, Jack Hunt, Thomas Hunt, Joe Pat Hunt; and his Daughter, Donna Grundy.

He is survived by his wife, Deloris Hunt; his children, Dean and wife, Ruth, Deanne Wohleking; his grandchildren, Hunt Grundy, Collin Grundy, Katie Wohleking, Tailor Hunt, Cameron Hunt; two great-grandchildren, Scott and Evangeline Grundy; his siblings, Bob Hunt, Marsha Sue Havins, Mary Ann Kull, and Molly Pruitt; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is being held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 31,2025 at Grace Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Meals for the Elderly, 310 Houston Harte, San Angelo, TX 76903.
